Question: I get cyclical pain in my upper abdomen during the day that lasts for about 10 seconds than goes away.My appetite is good.My bowel movements start out solid than become loose. This has been going on for 5 days now.My 11 year old daughter has had the same symptoms for the last two days.I don't have fever or nausea that you usually see with a stomach virus. My stomach feels bloated.I feel better in the morning and as the day progresses and I eat. the cyclical intense pain returns

Hello Dr XXXXXXX No I have not had any tests as of yet.I do not have any blood in my stool and the pain is not associated with any food.I do not suffer from any chronic illnesses. The bowel movements do smell, but no particular odor.I will call my GI doctor tomorow to make an appt.I thought initially that it was something I ate or a virus since my daughter is experiencing the same symptoms but the duration makes me doubtful.I am wondering if we are both suffering from some sort of parasitic infection from something we ate.Nobodyelse(thankfully) in my family is experiencing the same symtoms.
