What Causes Recurring Swelling On Back Of Head?
Question: My husband has a growth on the back of his head - about where skull meets the neck. About golf ball size. Doctor removed it once and it has returned within about 6 weeks to being slightly larger than last time. Sonogram done that revealed three "dense masses with blood flow" within the 2nd growth. Test of first growth removed indicated it was non-cancerous.
He has an appointment with original surgeon but can't get in prior to 1.5 weeks from now and is looking for information.
What could this be (benign lipoma?), what might the new dense masses be and what might treatment be?
Thanks!

Brief Answer:
It could be Haemangioma.
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Swelling with blood vessels which has recurred in short time could be Haemangioma.
Lipoma can be removed completely. Rarely it recurs in such a short period.
I would like to see the Biopsy report of the first swelling. Please send it as attachment.
If it is Haemangioma, it can be excised completely or get Sclerotherapy. But, it should be treated by a Plastic surgeon.
For exact diagnosis, CT angiography of the area is essential.
Please consult a plastic surgeon and proceed.
Hope I answered your query.
If you have any questions, I will clarify further.
Wish you good health.
