Brief Answer:
hives

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for contacting HCM with your health care concerns

I am sorry to hear that you have been having swelling of the lips. This is a symptom of hive or idiopathic urticaria. We rarely find the cause of a persons urticaria or hives when they present like you have. It could pet dander, pollen, or food allergies. If you want to pursue the cause you will need to see an allergist and get full allergy testing. Sometimes even with full testing we can't find the cause. Since your only symptom is a swollen lip I would recommend that whenever you first notice the swelling that you take an antihistamine right away like allegra or claritin. If you develop asthma or shortness of breat see a medical provider immediately. Asthma in this situation may progress to severe breathing problems
