What Causes Red And Dry Earlobes And Inner Ear?

Question: my boyfriend has MS and recently his earlobes got very red and dry, now it looks purple and has spread to his inner ear,behind his ear and to his face. the lesions are dry purple patches. What could this be?? I'm so worried. I don't think it's lupus or hope not, one autoimmune diseases is bad enough.

This not a feature caused by/related to MS.

As you describe, it seems like a spreading infection of the ear lobe and need immediate treatment with antibiotics and analgesics (if not already started). If treatment is delayed,it can affect the ear lobe cartilage also,and may cause irreversible damage. He should see an ENT consultant soon for diagnosis and treatment.
