What Causes Red Bumps And Swelling In The Legs?
Question: i was tested for penicillin allergy last year and told i was not allergic. i have taken amoxicillin three different times since with no reaction, i was just prescribed penicillin vk for a possible tooth infection( not seen by a dentist) just from talking to them. i am terrified to take it. they prescribed 500 mg 4 times a day for 7 days with the first dose being double. should i be worried i will have an Reaction? i am currently allergic to zithromax, bactrium, and celphasporins. when i took zithromax i had a drug induced lupus erthrymutenous reaction, with celphasporins i had red bumps that swelled up on my leg and turned to an enormous bruise with in minutes, with bactrium my tongue got swollen and hairy. i am nervous should i request amoxicillin instead as the pain is not bad
Brief Answer:
Allergy test needed again
Detailed Answer:
Dear Nss, I have gone through your question and I can understand your concerns..
Unfortunately penicillin requires an allergy test before taking it each and every time.. This means that even if you had an allergy test to penicillin last year, you have to repeat it before taking penicillin now. it is more safe to take amoxicillin if that's okay with your doctor..
I hope I answered your question, feel free to ask further..
