What Causes Red Colored Rashes All Over The Body Of An Infant?

Question: Hi ,

My 8 months old got rashes all over the body. For a soothing effect we applied XXXXXXX powder. Please suggest next course of action.

Hello

thanks for asking on this platform
I have seen the image and red rashes over the trunk appears to be due to some allergy.
I would like to know if there is history of fever,cough and cold along with rash.
In absence of fever chances of allergy is very high.
Here giving antillaergic like cetrizine/chloroheniramine syrup with application of some calamine lotion (for soothing effect) will help.
Watch for any rapid increase in rashes or developen of other symptoms like breathing difficulty or fever and if you notice any consult your physician.
Also I would request you to remove locket as this may also act as an allergen.

Thanks for valuable suggestion. There is no fever along with rashes. Can you please suggest dosage of the syrup. Kid is 8 months old and weighs 9 kgs.

Dose of cetrizine in this age is 2.5 mg/day once daily.Most of the brand of cetrizine syrup contains 2.5 mg/5ml.It may cause excessive sleepiness.
It is a prescription medicine so please get it prescribed by a practitioner before use.
