Posted on Tue, 7 Apr 2015
Question: I have bumps on my eyelids, under and corner of eyes. My upper and lower lips peeling and cracked. Its been this way for last 3 days. I can send photos.
Hi Dr. XXXXXXX XXXXXXX My previous skin issues had cleared up... but in the last 3-days, bumps appeared on my eyelids and around the eye and slight peeling on upper lip and around the lips. There is a slight itching from the bumps on skin around the eye.

Any idea what it could be, the cause and how I might treat this?

Thank you.

Brief Answer:
Possibility of Contact Dermatitis Or Seborrheic Dermatitis

Detailed Answer:
Hello. Thank you for writing to us

I ma Dr. Kakkar. I have taken note of your query and I have also reviewed the Images.

I can see red, scaly/ flaky areas on both upper eyelids as well as at lip region.

I suggest a likely possibility of Contact Dermatitis, likely allergic in etiology. Another possibility is of Seborrheic Dermatitis.

Both these are steroid responsive dermatoses.
Topical steroids are anti-inflammatory and therefore would take care of the redness, flaking and inflammation.
I suggest you to apply an OTC topical steroid e.g either Hydrocortisone 1% (cortisone cream) Or Triamcinolone acetonide 0.1% cream, twice daily for a few days.

An OTC oral antihistamine e.g cetrizine 10 mg once daily will provide you symptomatic relief from itching.

Regards
Wish you a speedy improvement!
