What Causes Redness And Sensitivity On The Skin Around The Penis?
Question: The skin around my penis behind the head is very red, shiny and sensitive to the point of pain. Additionally, the tip of my penis is red and painful. There have been no spots, blisters or bumps but it has been painful. It has been going on for one or two days. Is this herpes? Dry skin? Allergic reaction? I can upload pictures.

It almost looks like really bad dry and cracked skin. Almost like a rug burn. It looks like some fresh skin is trying to grow. I've been putting coconut oil on it.
Brief Answer:
Irritant/allergic reaction Or a drug eruption. Not herpes
Detailed Answer:
Thank you.
i have reviewed the images.
this does' nt look like genital herpes or any other STD. This seems like either a local allergic/irritant reaction to some topical application Or a drug reaction to some recently consumed oral medication for some other illness or condition e.g a pain killer or an antibiotic or a vitamin.
i suggest you to use a moderately potent topical steroid cream e.g triamcinolone acetonide 0.1% cream Or mometasone futoate 0.1% cream, twice daily for a few days. Use plain water to clean this area. Avoid soap or antiseptics etc.
