Question: I was bittenby some type of bug last Mon or Tues. There was no itchiness, just soreness and my ear got red and sore. Sat. a.m. when I got up I was dizzy...the roomo. twirled around. Rest of the day ok. Could not sleep without sitting up that nite as got dizzy. Today, sunday, have vertigo off and on...never bothered by this before..could it be the bites?
ps..only evidence of bites were welts at hairline and near ear...size of usa cent..no itchiness just somewhat sore. lasted all week, now almost gone

Brief Answer:
I don't believe it's the bite

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

a sore and red ear (particularly if behind the ear on the bony prominence that's right behind and a little lower) may suggest mastoiditis, which is usually the result of inner ear infection. If you've also got some degree of acute hearing loss and tinnitus then you should visit an ENT specialist at once because this kind of infection needs immediate treatment.

If it's not the infection and it's only a bite, then I don't believe it's the cause of your symptoms. Perhaps it's coincidental. Vertigo has many causes and cannot be approached very easily without clinical examination data. If vertigo is still there then you should visit your doctor for clinical examination and perhaps referral to an ENT and a neurologist (if common causes cannot be identified).

I can't suggest treatment without a specific diagnosis. Your doctor should be able to do that after examining you.

I hope you find my comments helpful!
