Posted on Mon, 3 Oct 2016
Question: hello doctor
4 month ago i have put my contacts (bad hygiene) in my eyes. the day after my eyes were red. after 2 weeks i went to a ophthalmologist. he said it was conjuctivitis. my eyes are better but still a little bit red. so i went a second time to another specialist because every morning my eyes are red. he said it was a low grade conjuctivitis. my question is: will this low conjunctivitis last forever because its been already 5 since i put my contacts in. and i have some blood vessels in my eye pointing toward my cornea. is this because of the lack of oxygen and will they eventually go away. i attached some pictures thanks

Brief Answer:
Low grade conjunctivitis

Detailed Answer:
My dear,

Thanks for sending your query to us.

This is a small level of infection still remaining, as is evident from the images sent by you.

Treat it aggressively to get rid of the problem. Use mosi eye drop 4 times a day and put zoxan or ciplox eye ointment at bed time. Continue this for a week and you will be fine.

Maintain required amount of hygiene.

Do get back to me in case of any further query in this regard.

Use the medication regularly. Then use cintact lenses. In case of duch long standing problems,it is not a bad idea to add on Ciplox D eye drop twice a day and within 3days redness will be reduced.

Brief Answer:
Low grade conjunctivitis

Detailed Answer:
My dear,
Thanks for getting back to me.
If you leave this untreated, self limiting infections may resolve on it's own,but during this period if you use contacts, then they also get infected and act as a source of infection.
Continue with this treatment and you will be fine.

And my last question is : is it possible that these blood vessels which ar pointing towards the cornea come from the lack of oxygen because maybe i wore them too long? And will they go away or last there?

Brief Answer:
Congestion

Detailed Answer:
MY dear,
Thanks for getting back to me.
There are ways of differentiating. If other than irritation, you have discharge in the morning, that is a indication of bacterial infection. If there is no discharge in the morning most likely no bacterial infection, but there is infllammatiin, where drugs like Ciplix D are useful.
Excessive contact lens wear redness will go away in a day or two of non lens wear.
