What Causes Restlessness, Tremors In Arms And Legs Along With Choking Sensation?

Question: hi, my husband is 53, overweight, on testosterone, b/p meds, Wellbutrin and vitamins. yesterday, he began to feel what he described as "weird". restlessness, urge to move and shake his arms and legs for relief, on my own personal note, he is extremely agitated. he has no feeling of worry or stress but now, he is getting a choking sensation when he takes a drink. he is also a smoker and has been an alcoholic for over 30 years, but only drinks on sundays (so he says). he went to e.r. and the doc gave him Flexeril. nothing is helping. should i take him back and if so, what shall i suggest to the e.r. staff to look for? thank you.

I appreciate your concern

i have read your history carefully and would like you to know that such symptoms which you describe are not normal, they indicate multiople problems and require further workup to rule out or rule in common causes responsible for such symptoms. Investigations should include

LFTS plus hepatisitis profile must be done
RFTS, electrolytes including Na, K, Ca
Chest Xray PA view
CBC, Urine R/E, ECG, TFTs.

I would suggest you consult a psychiatrist
so that a XXXXXXX mental state exam is performed.
to ascertain depression and or anxiety,
Medications can be adjusted afterwards in addition
to cognitive behavioral therapy. Yoga and meditation ,
too have proven benefit in addition to relaxing exercise.
