What Causes Retrograde Ejaculation While On Doxazosin?

Question: I am 60 years old high blood pressure on medication one being Doxazosin. I also have prediabetes at A1C 6.9 and take Metformin. Metformin started 2 months ago and my Dr. increased Dox to 12 mg daily. At the same time as this increased and 2 months after metformin I noticed the lack of ejaculate at orgasam. Most times none at all. Is this a side effect of the meds and if so is it harmful.....

Based on the facts that you have posted absence of ejaculate during orgasm is due to known side effect of Doxazosin.

Doxazosin is an alpha adrenergic blocker which relaxes smooth muscles in arteries ,veins , bladder neck and prostate. During normal ejaculation bladder neck gets closed while urethral sphincter opens making semen to enter forward into urethra to be ejaculated outside however when some one is taking Doxazosin bladder neck relaxes and remains wide open making semen to move backwards in to bladder what is called as Retrograde ejaculation ,

There is nothing to be worried about it .
