What Causes Right Flank Pain And Lower Abdominal Pain After A Ureteroscopy?
Question: I had a right ureteroscopy and stent removal about six days ago but I am still experiencing right flank pain, lower abdominal pain and what seems like a full bladder, any suggestion?

Hi,
The placement of a stent itself can excite a moderate amount of inflammation, and therefore patients with indweling stents tend to have some minor bleeding and discomfort while voiding urine. The same inflammation will persist even after stent removal for a few days, but patients are often not bothered by symptoms unless there is infection IR any residual stones in the ureter. If there us significant bother, you can try improving your fluid intake. Meds like Flomax 0.4mg once daily at bedtime could help. Alkalinization with syrup Citra-alka 10-15ml thrice daily diluted with water and taken after meals could yield benefit soon. Uf despite these measures, relief us still unavailable, you might need an evaluation with an ultrasound and urine analysis.
