default
Posted on Tue, 13 Oct 2015
Question: Hello sir
i am a 28 years old female. i've been experiencing pain in my right arm and it has been quite long now. along with that there is also pain in my right breast and i feel a kind of fullness in my right axilla with pain in the axilla as well. i am not able to feel any lump in my breast. there is no specific time for the pain. at times it's not there at all. at times, the pain also radiates to my jaw and neck on the right side. i am really worried about it because this is bothering me. i took antibiotics for it previously(1 year back almost). the pain subsides a bit as long as i am on antibiotics. but it has recurred. what could it be?

Brief Answer:
Suggestive of some sort of infection

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXXXXX Hi!
Thanks for posting your query on HCM.
I can understand your concern.

I have gone through the symptoms described in your query & it seems like you have some sort of recurring infection in the right axilla (armpit) could be responsible for the radiating pain to the jaw and the neck.

The infection that could be responsible include:
1. Swollen lymph glands (lymphadenitis due to infection or inflammation) compressing the nerves in the axilla (brachial plexus).
2. Inflammed or infected sweat glands & hair follicles (Hidradenitis) can also have similar symptoms
3. Infected sebaceous cyst in the axilla
4. Infection of the tail of the breast in the right axilla.

I would there fore advise you to get examined clinically by a doctor for proper evaluation & treatment like a course of appropriate antibiotic plus NSAID pain killers. I also advise you to maintain good hygiene, keep the armpit clean, & use water and soap frequently for that purpose.

Hope the suggestion given above could be useful.
If you still have some doubts, please feel free to send the follow up query.

Best regards.
