What Causes Right-sided Abdominal Pain During Menstrual Cycle?

Question: Hi. As you know ive had on and off right sided stomach pain for the past few months Have been to gyn and gastro and everthing seems to be normal. Some say IBS or muscular and just part of being a woman. I had similar discomfort about 7 years ago and then it would wax and wean. Lately however i have more of a soreness over the lower- mid right side. I had my last menstrual cycle begining on decemeber 17th. Its sore if i bump into something or touch it. This began on the 24th of december right after my cycle. I think this has happened before and my doc said not to worry. What are your thoughts? Happy holidays. Thanks very much
Brief Answer:
Antibiotic course needed
Detailed Answer:
Hello mam, thanks for trusting health care magic.
Yes it is very common and normal and usually seen in mid cycle in many women.
In case it is very bothersome then take some mild analgesics at that time and take antibiotic course for 7-10 days after discussion with your gynecologist.
Taking a single course of antibiotic will help in decreasing the discomfort at time of ovulation.
In case you have any questions about it, I will be glad to answer.

Thank you very much. So in my case it could be due to early ovulation right after my cycle ends?
Brief Answer:
Yes a kind of estrogen withdrawal bleeding
Detailed Answer:
Yes most likely that is the commonest explanation.
Basically the hormone levels come down just 2-3 days before ovulation and that leads to the withdrawal bleeding and pain at that time which is more in patients with pelvic inflammation.
So taking antibiotics will decrease the inflammation and thus pain at that time.
