What Causes Right Sided Abdominal Pain Radiating To Right Leg?

default
Posted on Fri, 31 Jul 2015
Question: Hi. I am still having right sided abdominal pain/cramping that is sensitive to touch, sore, and pain radiates to my right leg. Moves from lower to upper area. This has been for 2 months. Had ultra sound, normal and complete blood work up normal. Had this pain 7 years ago, had CAT SCAN normal, endocopy normal and colonoscopy revealed benign polyp but normal. I am 36 and the doctors dont want to repeat the other tests from 7 years ago right now. Last year around this time i had this disxomfort for about 2 months during a stressfull time (post car accident) and i lost about 35-40 pounds but now leveled off and even gained about 7 back so doctor isnt worried aboit that. Can this really all be muscle skeletal or stress? Thank you so much. XXXXX

Brief Answer:
Some more information is needed.

Detailed Answer:
Hello.

Thank you for the query.

Before answering your question I need to have some more information:
1. Does the pain get more intense after physical activity or lifting some objects?
2. Do you have any problems with urinating (frequent urinating, burning while urinating)
3. Does the pain goes through the buttock or groin when radiating to the leg?
4. Have you had any spine injury in the mentioned accident?
5. Does the pain appear after food intake?

I m looking forward to hearing from you.
Regards.

Hi. Thanks for getting back to me. I feel the pain mostly when i move my right leg or lean into something. Its dull, cramp, sorness, butning like. When I turn to the right side or stretch that side it hurts more and i feel it in my leg. Now i do get a pulling sensation in my entire stomach at times after eating, however the right sided pain is only on right side. Going to the bathroom, urinating does not burn but moving into different positions does aggravate it. I also should mention that i do suffer from lower baxk pain from time to time as well. My stool for the past year has been shorter pieces, yellowish to brown on a regualr basis. I use to be more constipated until the stress of the car accident it changed and has been consistent for the past year. Like ive mentioned i lost weight pver the course of a few months last yeae but now gained 7-10 pounds back. Thanks so muxh .

Brief Answer:
Spine disc problem seems most probable.

Detailed Answer:
From your description your symptoms are caused by spine disc problem in the lumbar area. Back pain only confirms it.
This does not seem to be caused by any gastrointestinal issue.
Please note that you are way too young for any large intestine problems so the tests you have had 7 years ago are still valid and no need to repeat them.
Your bowels issues can be caused by stress or some mild diet problems.

You may perform simple test. If its really nerve or muscular pain, hot bath and Ibuprophen (or Diclophenac) should greatly decrease the pain.

Here is what I suggest you to do:
- please consult orthopedist and consider spine MRI
- start probiotic intake and increase fiber rich products
- check your thyroid hormones levels (TSH, T3, T4)

Hope this will help.
Regards.

Brief Answer:
Colon cancer at your age is impossible.

Detailed Answer:
First of all colon cancer does not appear at your age. It were possible only if you would have colon cancer in the family (hereditary). Otherwise, it is impossible and you should forget about this cancer for the next 10 years.

Brief Answer:
Correct.

Detailed Answer:
Yes, this is correct. Polyp is a common finding. Still your chances for colon cancer are extremely low right now.
