Question: I am 73 year old male who has pain in my lower back, mostly on the right side. It is painful walking, golfing, and gardening. I have been in physical therapy for 6 weeks working on core muscles. Do you think it could be more than muscular?

Brief Answer:
Possible muscles pain

Detailed Answer:
Hello! Thank you for asking HealthCareMagic.
I have gone through your question and i understand your concern .

The symptoms you describe and all the examination indicate a muscle pain.

If the pain during these days have being worse , you did not have any improvement i would suggest
to do a X-ray to rule out any joint/ bone problems since your symptoms may be also cause by joint/ bone problems.
Sometimes muscles pain may last for weeks and months.
Use warm compreses , avoid the movements that make the pain worse ,keep using painkillers ( ibuprofen / Tylenol).

Hope i have answered your question.
Let me know if you have any other questions , i will be happy to help.
Take Care !
Dr Balliu.
