What Causes Right-sided Muscle Spasms Below Ribs?

Question: i have had a sort of a muscle spasm at the bottom of the right side of my ribs on and off for a few days. I'm concerned it might be my liver
Brief Answer:
liver disease does not cause spasms usually
Detailed Answer:
Hello and thank you for your question.
Liver pain is usually a dull aching pain, not spasms. If you have risk for liver disease then make sure to have your doctor do an exam and get some liver blood tests done to make sure. Risks for liver disease include alcohol use, IV drug use, hepatitis B and C. Most people with liver disease have nausea and upset stomach a lot. Sometimes they have jaundice, yellow skin.
For muscle spasm try drinking more water, less caffeine and alcohol and taking a multivitamin daily.
