What Causes Right Sided Pain Below The Ribcage?

default
Posted on Tue, 1 Jul 2014
Question: Healthy and fit 42 yr old male. Squeezing pain on right side below rib cage. Have had appendics out. Also have acid reflux and burning pain when drinking fluids and a full feeling in center of stomach. I can deal with that but the squeezing feeling on right side is an ill scary feeling like something is really wrong. Went to doctor and did urine and blood tests, many different tests. All were within normal range. Gave me prescription for prilosec and vicodin for pain. Said if squeezing pain is worse and doesnt go away we can do a cat scan in a week or so. I have a hard time believing the reflux would extend to the far right side. I worry about cancer. The doctor didnt seem concerned but the squeezing sick pain on right side has me scared. It feels like one of my organs is aggravated. I cant function because of the pain. Could this possibly be related to the reflux problem? Please help me and would tests have likely showed something if cancer was involved?

Brief Answer:
Have faith in your doctor;Ultrasonography/CT helps

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for posting
I have studied your case carefully, the squeezing pain can be due to different reasons but the common one could be gall bladder pathology. This needs Ultrasonography to confirm this and to find out any other cause. It is less expensive and easily available as compare to CT scan.
The symptoms of Gall bladder pathology and reflux problem usually overlap. It depends on special blood test to diagnose cancer; therefore you may share what type blood test done along with report in your reply. My advice would be have faith in your treating doctor and may come back with the reports.
Hope I was able to clear your doubt and I shall be glad to answer any further query.
Take care

Brief Answer:
Report's sent are only partly visible

Detailed Answer:
Hi
It's good to see you
After going through your reply, the blood tests done are routine blood test and are not specific to cancer. Having said that, as you do not have loss of weight/appetite and physically fit by your own words I may assure you stop worrying unnecessarily.
You may get Ultrasonography/CT scan done to reach any conclusion and that will reduce your stress.
You may comeback with the reports.
Take care
