Detailed Answer:
Hello again.
An EKG should be done even though the pain is located in the epigastric / stomach region. It is most likely to be related to the gastrointestinal tract but the heart should be ruled out first. If the pain is persistent , serum amylase and lipase can also be done. Empiric treatment for gastritis should be initiated if the EKG is fine. Initially , antispasmodics like hyoscine butylbromide, PPIs like esomeprazole and pro kinetic medication like domeperidone / metoclopramide can be given. Most likely the symptoms will resolve. If upon abdominal exam there is any suspicion, an x ray erect abdomen can also be advised to look for other causes such as intestinal obstruction, perforation etc.
