Brief Answer:
I agree with your doctor

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

this sounds like herpes. Herpes may cause soreness on the face and lymph node enlargement. Other viral infections cannot be excluded though.
Herpes usually starts with similar symptoms and continues with skin lesions. The next days will confirm or rule out this scenario.

Did she have herpes in the past (cold sore)? Did she come into contact with a diseased person? Does she have fever?

Contact me again with the details, if you'd like.

Kind Regards!

Brief Answer:
Herpes is likely

Detailed Answer:
Although I couldn't provide a diagnosis at this point, I can say that herpes is likely. Perhaps she should discuss it with her doctor. Physical examination of the enlarged lymph nodes is important because it may provide clues to the diagnosis or require further investigation.

If it is herpes then prompt treatment may reduce the duration of the symptoms.

Thank you for your response yesterday she has come home from work and there is a rash startin to appear behind her ear and along her hairline her face is stillsensitive to the touch and above her eye hurts . She is a primary school teacher and a few weeks ago there was an outbreak of chickenpox I was wondering if it might be shingles. Do you think this is likely.

Brief Answer:
it could be

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

I can't exclude shingles but shingles requires a prior chickenpox infection. If she hasn't contracted chickenpox as a child then this is unlikely, although rarely an asymptomatic chickenpox might occur. Besides that, contact with chickenpox patients is not supposed to induce a shingles attack.

If she never had chickenpox then chickenpox itself is a consideration. The rash usually starts from the head and body and spreads to the extremities.

If it's shingles she'll know it very soon. She'd better visit her doctor for inspection and clinical examination.

Best wishes for a speedy recovery!

Brief Answer:
today if possible

Detailed Answer:
Since she had shingles in the past, a new attack is possible, particularly if the same site was involved. She'd better visit her doctor at once, because early treatment is essential.

Kind regards!
