What Causes Ringing In Ears And Dizziness While On BP Medication?
I would explain as follows:
Detailed Answer:
Hello!
Thank you for asking on HCM!
I understand your concern and would like to explain that the episode of vertigo and head spinning is not related to your blood pressure, but to an inner ear disorder, called Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo. The fact that your symptoms were relieved by a certain position of the head goes in favor of this diagnosis, and it is not related to high blood pressure.
The ringing in your ears seems to be related to the above mentioned disorder.
That is why I advise to consult with the ENT specialist and perform labyrinthine tests to rule in/out this possible diagnosis.
Regarding your blood pressure, I would recommend to closely monitor it several times during the day (in sitting position after 10 minutes of ceasing any physical activities).
You should know that "labile hypertension" is referred to episodes of uncontrolled high blood pressure, when your blood pressure is within the normal limits during most of the time.
What medicines for blood pressure are you taking?
I would recommend performing a medical check up, which includes: a careful physical examination, a resting ECG, a chest x ray and blood lab tests (complete blood count, fasting glucose, thyroid hormone levels, kidney and liver function tests, blood electrolytes, etc.) to exclude any possible secondary cause of high blood pressure.
Some lifestyle modifications would be necessary to prevent episodes of uncontrolled high blood pressure:
- lose weight, if you are overweight
- take a balanced diet reducing salt and caffeine intake
- perform a lot of physical activity (4 km walking each day are recommended)
- manage psychological stress (anxiolytics, yoga, psychotherapy).
Hope to have been helpful!
