What Causes Seizure Disorder And Costal Chondritis In Children?
Please provide more information
Detailed Answer:
Good morning. The amount of information you've provided is not enough for me to either answer a question you may have or assess the consultation efforts you've already received for this 14 year old child.
Do you mean to say that this child has been just diagnosed with seizure disorder AND costal chondritis? Or is this a child who has a longstanding diagnosis of seizure disorder who may have just had a breakthrough episode and as well has been diagnosed with costal chondritis?
If you are asking about the relationship between those 2 entities or if one could've caused the other (such as costal chondritis resulting in a seizure) then, the answer to that question would be decidedly NO. Costal chondritis is felt by some to be caused as part of a viral syndrome or infection of some sort. But is is never felt to be a cause of triggering seizures (either new onset or breaththrough).
If this child has a diagnosis of seizure disorder can you please include whether it is a primary type of seizure such as GENERALIZED TONIC CLONIC sz ("Grand Mal.") or COMPLEX PARTIAL SEIZURE ("Petit Mal")? Is there a focus for the seizure in the brain (i.e. a place of origin where they seem to start) and do the doctors know what caused the seizure disorder to begin with...or are they still working up case at this time?
Again, I would like very much to help with your case so if you could return some additional information as well as a specific question that you may be asking and I will be happy to supply you with an answer that will hopefully help the child feel better.
I hope this answer satisfactorily addresses your question. If so, may I ask your favor of a HIGH STAR RATING with some written feedback?
Also, if there are no other questions or comments, can I ask that you CLOSE THE QUERY on your end so this question can be transacted and archived for further reference by colleagues as necessary?
Please direct more comments and questions to me in the future at:

Please keep me informed as to the outcome of your situation.
All the best.
