What Causes Seizures With Headache?
Clinical examination and epilepsy workup needed
Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX
Thanks for writing in to us.
A possible seizure like episode needs to be evaluated as a part of epilepsy work up. Since no one else might have noticed your seizure, it is difficult to categorize as which type of seizure you experienced.
A seizure is the manifestation of an abnormal, hypersynchronous discharge of a population of cortical neurons or nerve cells in the brain. This discharge may produce subjective symptoms or objective signs, in which case it is a clinical seizure, or it may be apparent only on an electroencephalogram (EEG), in which case it is an electrographic (or subclinical) seizure.
You must consult a neurologist and you may be asked to get an EEG done. A complete clinical examination will also be done and if necessary a brain CT or MRI scan may also be asked for.
It is important to keep a log of any suspicious seizure like activity and inform your doctor about any subsequent seizure like events.
Hope your question is answered.
Do write back if you have any doubts.
Regards,
Dr.Vivek
