Question: My daughter is 3.2 years old. From the last two days she is belching a lot after taking food. She also vomiting food/water occasionally. She is passing winds more while passing stools and the stool is full of smell and it's semi solid. She has not lost the appetite though and having food in normal intervals. There is no loose motion or frequent potties. She is also active and there is no sign of any stomach pain from her gestures.

Brief Answer:
High fibre diet is advisible. Give plenty of curd

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

I have carefully gone through the problems that you have mentioned. The problem seems to be in the bowel habits. Under normal circumstances, our gastro intestinal tract has a gentle forward milking movement that moves the food forward in the process of digestion and towards the anus. If this movement is not adequate, there can be backflow and regurgitation in the form of vomiting and belching. It may also lead to overgrowth of bacteria in the intestines leading to increase in the amount of gases (foul smelling) that are produced and released along with stool.

I would suggest the following interventions:
1. Give high fibre foods, especially green leafy vegetables. Use whole wheat instead of refined flour. You may also give fibre supplements like isabgol husk at night. You may mix it with the food contents as well.
2. You may also give some antiemetics like domstal (domperidone) in order to manage the situation.
3. Give plenty of curd or yogurt which contains plenty of beneficial bacteria.
4. Increase the total amount of fluid intake.

Hope that helps.
