default
Posted on Sat, 20 Jun 2015
Question: For the past two weeks I seem to be burping after most things I eat even if it's just a spoonful of something, I also have chest tightness at times in the middle of my chest/sternum. I have anxiety issues too.

Brief Answer:
Air swallowing can be the case.

Detailed Answer:
Hello!

Thank you for the query.

Such symptoms are usually caused by air swallowing (aerophagia). This condition can be caused by eating fast, drinking carbonated drinks, chewing gum, stress, bad diet (fatty foods), smoking.
In some cases such symptom can be also a sign of stomach issue including hiatal hernia, acid reflux, stomach inflammation or even H.Pylori infection.

I suggest you to try diet modification. Try to avoid fatty foods, spicy foods, alcohol, coffee, carbonated drinks. Try to eat slower. Do not chew gum.
If this wont help, please consult gastrologist.

Hope this will help. Feel free to ask further questions.
Regards.

Thank you for your reply, but I'm even burping first thing in the morning when i haven't even eaten Anything, can anxiety/stress cause such things? I have also been taking ferrous gluconate for low iron levels.

Brief Answer:
Anxiety can for sure cause stomach problems.

Detailed Answer:
Yes, definitely anxiety can cause such symptoms. Ferrous glucunate can cause stomach issues leading to pain or burping.
So both things can have an impact to burping.
