Brief Answer:
I think hot massages with topical gels and some relaxation will help prevent your pain .

Detailed Answer:
Hi i am Dr Ahmed Aly
thanks for using HealthcareMagic site ,
I had gone through your question and understand your concerns ..

I think you may have a kind of over used or over exertion on your calf muscles which is common after long walks , i think it will fade by time .
Icing it for the first 48 hours will be helpful to decrease pain sensation and swelling i think after the first 48 hours i think hot massages with topical gels anti-inflammatory will be more effective to increase the blood flow and relax your muscles .Painkillers like advil tab when needed will be fine .
If pain persists i think you may need to visit your physician to prevent further complications for proper evaluation and management .
