default
Posted on Mon, 22 Jun 2015
Question: I am 50 years old. In January I had a heart attack with servere blockage in several arteries. i had double by-pass surgery. Which was considered a success. Six weeks later I began to very similar pains in my chest. I had a angiogram and one by pass on completely blocked and the put two stents in for the two blockages, the other by-pass was 50% blocked and they did nothing for it. For the last couple of days
I been having a stinging pain right where my heart is. It is not sereve pain but comes and goes.
When I had my heart attack and second episode. The paid was very sereve like someone hit me as hard as they could with a sledge hammer in the middle of my chest. Should be concerned with this type of pain, or does it just goes with the territory since I had open heart surgery less than six months ago. i do umpire baseball and was hit directly in the heart with a four ball last month. It did leave quit a bruise and was painful at the time but nothing since.

Hi and thank you for asking!
I read your query and understood your concerns.

My opinion is that you shouldn't worry to much and you should wait and see what happens.

If the pain is decreased or stay the same you shouldn't worry about it. It's only a musculo-skeletal pain (due to muscle trauma from sport) and it needs only NSAID such as advil.

If the pain increase it's intensity or it worsen with the passing of time, you should go immediately to ER for a quick evaluation.

Hope this was of help!
Wish you health!

Brief Answer:
You should go immediately to ER

Detailed Answer:
Hi back,

In that case you should go immediately to ER, to exclude life threatening situations that are caused from the interaction between the two drugs. Cialis has a long half-life and its effect last through 24 hours.

Cialis has a strong interaction with nitro and their combination may lead to severe hypotension and cardiac shock that may lead to death. These complications are more pronounced to patient like you that has had in previous month’s cardiac surgery and reclosure of the bypass grafts.

Hope this will be of help!
Wish you health!

Detailed Answer:
Hi back,

Although you take the drugs 12 hours apart, cialis has a half life of 17 hours and it's effect last up to 36 hours.

The interaction doesn't happen always, however when it happen it's manifested with:
- low blood pressure
- chest pain
- fatigue
- profuse sweating

The interaction between these two drugs may lead to severe heart failure and cardinogenic (heart) shock. It rarely may lead to another heart attack or stroke.

Hope this was of help!
Wish you health!

I also take 320mg of valsartan. and 20mg of Bystolic a day for my high blood pressure. Will increase my changes of a heart attack if I accidently take cialis and nitro or help lessen the chance of a heart attack. I also take brilinta to prevent clots.

Detailed Answer:

The only precaution when you use Cialis is to avoid taking any nitro preparation for the next 24 hours. This precaution will prevent from further risk.

Following answer to your queries...

Detailed Answer:
Hi back,

If we wanted to induce another cardiac event the best way in your case was to give a combination of cialis with nitro pills. this combination may be fatal if it's not treated right away.

The combination of Cialis and nitro at low dosage or given 12 hours apart may induce a series of event that may lead to another heart attack (cardiogenic shock). It may be fatal if it's not treated right away.
