What Causes Severe Cough With Yellow Mucus In The Throat?
Question: Coughing a lot. Some yellow mucus coming up. Took mucinex but coughing comes back after 5 hours. Anoying please help

Mucinex is N acetyl cystine (NAC). It is expectorant.
You may need antibiotic and inhaled treatment on the basis of your diagnosis.
You should consult doctor and get done clinical examination of respiratory system, chest x ray and PFT (Pulmonary Function Test).
Chest x ray is needed to rule out lung infection. PFT is must for the diagnosis of bronchitis.

Yellow expectoration and continuous coughing are suggestive of lower respiratory tract infection (LRTI).
And for this, you should start antibiotic like levofloxacin or azithromycin, antihistamine like levocetrizine or fexofenadine and anti inflammatory like paracetamol.
Also do warm water gargles and steam inhalation 4-5 times a day.
Drink plenty of fluids orally and keep yourself hydrated.
Don't worry, you will be alright with all these.
