What Causes Severe Cramps In The Right Foot?

default
Posted on Fri, 24 Jun 2016
Question: I have just been told that I have Osteopenia. My right foot near my toes.is cramping so bad it would bright tears to my eyes. The area below my toes when I flexed then to step down was the worst. I thought I had broken my foot because I was working in the garden and had jammed my foot. The X Ray showed up Osteopenia but no broken bones. I see the Dr again today but would that cause the cramping I am having? I do go bare foot in the house but that seems to make it worst. It looks like I am still a borderline diabetic I will know the results of my AIC today, but my fasting BS was in the 160's

Brief Answer:
Hydration. Electrolyte replenishment, Levocarnitine. Diabetes treatment.

Detailed Answer:
Hi there.

You are taking inadequate dose of Vitamin D for osteopenia.

You need to take injection Vitamin D3 600000 units intramuscularly one a week for 6 weeks as well. Also you can discuss about Salmon calcitonin and Parathormone with your Doctor as years are medicines to reduce fracture risk.

Do very a DEXA Scan to evaluate your yearly fracture risk as well.

For the cramping pain, drink 1.5-2 litres of water daily. Drink fresh Lemonade without sugar once daily. Eat plenty of fresh fruits and green leafy vegetables. Take Tablet Levocarnitine 500mg once a day for a month. Usually Electrolyte disturbance and muscle fatigue cause cramping.

Diabetes can cause damage to the nerves around the hands and feet which can also contribute to the cramping and pain, along with tingling and numbness. So do get evaluated and treated accordingly.

I hope I have answered your query.

I will be available to answer your follow up queries.
