What Causes Severe Diarrhea In A Child?

Question: Hello My son is 6 months old and is on mothers feed but off late from the last two weeks he has been passing motions too frequently . Motions color and type is as normal but number of times he is passing almost 8 times a day.
I am concerned if this is something to do with his growing age? Is he preparing for top feed - does this happen during this period and most importantly is this normal?
As he completed his six months yesterday as i have to start his top feed but i m concerned about his motions and how we will manage in this continuous motions. I had also given 3 doses of Z&D DS 20(Zinc Dry Powder for suspension) for his motions but no improvement.

Brief Answer:
Give ORS and zinc drops
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome to HCM.
Can understand your concerns.
8 stools in a day is not normal. Possible causes could be stomach infection or rotavirus infection.
The main thing that we have to take care is hydration of baby. Start giving ORS solution about 60 ml each stool. Continue zinc drops.
If no improvement in 24 hours then examination by Pediatrician should be done.
I hope this will help you.
Wishing your child good health.
Take care.
