Question: I am concerned hat I may have food poisoning. I have had severe diarrea since midnight last night, bloating, abdominal pain, nausea and dizziness. I remember eating buttered popcorn last night and developed acid reflux and took an alka-seltzer. Then the diarrea began - like yellow bubbly wayer came out every 10 minutes. I do have IBS but have never had these servere symptoms. What is happenin g?

Brief Answer: detailed below Detailed Answer: Hello. Thank you for the query. This does sound like food poisoning indeed. This is the most common reason of acute diarrhea. Most of such cases go away witbout medical attention. Please follow this steps: - avoid any solid foods for 12 hours - start probiotic intake - drink plenty of liquids like warm tea, water or gatorade - take loperamide to ztop diarrhea - if this will help and diarrhea will be over, start liquid diet for next day However if after 48 hour symptoms will be still present or any blood in stool, high fever will appear, you should see your doctor. Hope this will help. Feel free to ask further questions. Regard.
