What Causes Severe Flu Like Symptoms Along With Muscle Pain?

Question: Hi,
I've noticed for the last several days that I'm experiencing what feels like flu-like aches, but I don't have the flu. It also only seems to happen at night. It's not super severe, but enough to make me wonder what it could be. Any thoughts?

Hello, Thank you for posting your question on Health Care Magic.
The flu like symptoms could be muscle pains the reason could be many.
One I would recommend you to get your thyroid profile done as hypothyroidism can cause muscle pains.
Two if you have a strong family history please get HBA1C done to rule out diabetes.
Please hydrate yourself adequately as dehydration may also cause this type of body pains.
Lastly it could also be fibromyalgia which can be diagnosed after ruling out the above mentioned conditions.

Thank you very much. I have one more unrelated question. I also have very frequent heartburn. I was taking prilosec otc for it, but then heard and read about some dangers of taking proton pump inhibitors regularly. Something to do with weakening of artery walls? What is your opinion on them? Are they safe?
Brief Answer:
Any medication on long term is not good
Detailed Answer:
Hello again, proton pump inhibitors on long term use will make you prone to infections.
You can use it once in a while when you are symptomatic.
please try to manage with dietary changes like decreasing caffeinated drinks, chilli and smoking
Increase bananas and curds in your diet
Best wishes
