Hello. Thank you for writing to us

I have gone through your query and I have understood your concern.

You seem to have androgenetic alopecia, female pattern.
This type of alopecia is characterised by hair loss and miniaturisation of hair follicles (thinning) in the center part of scalp i.e front, mid and vertex of scalp and thus gradual decrease in density of hair from this area.
If I was the treating doctor I would suggest you to use a topical minoxidil 2% solution, twice daily. Minoxidil is a non-specific hair growth promoter and helps to slow progression of alopecia and also reverses early hair loss.
In addition I would also suggest you to take a biotin supplement e.g tablet revilus once daily.
These are prescription products and I suggest that you take them under supervision of a dermatologist in your region.

Hi Doctor,

I have heared however that Minoxidil is effective only for the duration it is been used. Once stopped,the effect goes for a toss.

Isn't there any long term solution.

Hi.

Minoxidil has to be used for a longer period. You must also start tablets simutaneously and then reduce frequency of application of minoxidil after 6-12 months of use once the desired effect has been achieved. Thereafter you may just continue with tablet to maintain the results.
