What Causes Severe Headaches Along With Vertigo In Children?

Question: My granddaughter developed sudden vertigo three weeks ago along with headache and feeling sick. The doctor diagnosed her with viral labyrinthitis and said it would take a while to go. The diagnosis was made on the basis of her symptoms but no tests done. She still is getting headaches and feeling sick to the extent she does not want to go to school which is not in keeping with her normal behaviour. The vertigo seems to have gone. Do you think we should be content with the diagnosis or is there a chance something neurological is going on? She is 10 years old. Thank you.

Brief Answer:
Vertigo

Detailed Answer:
Hello. I just read through your question..
I'm sorry your granddaughter has to deal with this.
There is still a very good chance that the symptoms will resolve on their own. However, because they have lasted this long it might be a good idea to get the opinion of a good pediatric neurologist. I recommend consulting with your doctor about this. You should be able to get a recommendation for a good pediatric neurologist from your pediatrician. In the meantime encourage fluids, fluids often help resolve headaches.
