What Causes Severe Itching Of Skin?
Question: My skin is really itchy Iv been to the dr and she prescribed me a steroid cream that kinda helps and Iv switched to unscented soap laundry detergent I even use lotion after bath I itch so much I make my self bleed but I i have no rash only after I get done itching but I usually only itch at night time I don't notice itching at work

I have changed and rewashed bedding I have no fever or diarea itchy skin does run in my family but noones is as bad as man there's is all just minor on hands and knees mine is all over my arms and chest and stomach area is we're I itch the most I can't ever sleep at night because of it I wake up itching I don't take any kind of medication this has been goin on for about 6 months Iv been to the dr and nothing seems to help me

You probably are suffering from Urticaria. Its a condition in which patient gets generalized itching over the body. It could be due to allergy.
If I were your treating doctor then I would have given following advise:
> levocetirizine 10 mg one at night for 7 days
> Montelukast one daily for one month. Research has shown that it decreases the allergic symptoms considerably.
I would also suggest you to under go allergy testing at allergy clinic as you have chronic allergy problem. It will tell that you are allergic to what specific thing. The results will help an allergist to prescribe you immunotherapy to that specific allergen and it will improve the problem.
