What Causes Severe Itching On The Penile Shaft?
Question: A few months ago I woke up with a real itchy penis shaft, and after itching it aggressively it was very swollen. Since then occasionally at night I'll feel the itch again and one spot on my penis will swell for a few hours then go back to normal.
There are no sores, ulcers warts etc.
I was fairly confident it was jock itch as I was not showering after working out, but I'm not sure.
I was tested for std's when I had a bladder infection due to bph a few months prior to the first itching incident, and there was nothing.
I have prostate issues that I monitor yearly.
I would go see my urologist but by the time I get in it's gone.

Brief Answer:
I think it could be minor skin infection, possibly fungal
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thank you for contacting.
Based on the information you have provided, I think it could be minor skin infection, possibly fungal. May be not taking shower few times after working out could be a risk factor. So, I kindly request to please maintain very good personal hygiene particularly in genital area. As you mentioned that you don't have any symptoms as of now, I don't think you need any specific medicine apart from maintaining very good personal hygiene.
However, please get check up to rule out diabetes mellitus as it can sometimes lead to these kind of skin infection through immunosuppression.
Thank you
