Question: My husband is 59. For quite awhile now he has had extreme cramps in his sides. It can be one at a time or both. They run through the whole length of his truck. He gets sweaty, vomits, and sometimes has loss of energy. They use to come only when he worked but now are coming at any time. He has to stop and raise his arm over his head until it finally passes. His GP said it was only cramps but it is getting worse. Any ideas?

Brief Answer:
Juicy fruits are a rich source of potassium

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

The cramps are like to be due to muscle spasm and muscle fatigue. Try giving him juicy fruits like citrus fruits, and bananas. They contain potassium and should help in relaxation of the muscles. Also give him hot compress. If that too does not help, paracetamol or acetaminophen can be tried. The next step would be prescription muscle relaxants twice daily for 2-3 days.

Let me know if I could help further.

Regards
