What Causes Severe Muscle Cramps When Diagnosed With Fibromyalgia And Restless Legs Syndrome?

Question: I have been diagnosed with Fibromyaliga and Restless Leg Syndrome. I am presently taking Myrapex, and otc Chlorpheniramine. My symptoms are the tingling, inability to sit still, deep muscle pain, which leads to muscle cramps. The issue is that my symptoms are getting worse. It has gone from night-time only to all of the time. My physician prescribed a muscle relaxer which had no effect. I would appreciate your thoughts on this matter.

I have gone through your query and understand your concerns. Fibromyalgia is not a diagnosis. It is just a fancy name of the symptom ('algia'=pain of 'fibro'us and 'myo'=muscle tissue). It is similar to calling fever (=elevation of temperature) a diagnosis. Its not. The underlying cause is hard to discern.

There are various modes of pain relief and you may try them after visiting a pain specialist. I would encourage you to see a psychologist as well. Psychological mode of pain control works and he would be able to guide you in the right direction.
