What type-burning/shooting/or muscle aches in neck?
What caused it ?any twists or sprains in neck?

Probable causes in this age-
Degenerative Vertebral changes with Disc prolapse in cervical ribs/
or -Sprain in Muscle from twist/jerks.
Other causes need to be investigated after you give more details as asked above.
