What Causes Severe Pain From Swollen Mons Pubis?
Question: Hi I am having pretty sever pain from a swollen mons pubis. Only the left side, there is a lesion there. I had this happen before and was told it was a bartholin cyst. But never pain like this. I can hardly walk. There is only one visible sore and it is on the mons pubis.
Brief Answer:
Possible Infected Bartholin Cyst-Bartholin abscess
Detailed Answer:
Hi Mam,
I understand your concern.
Considering your past history of bartholin's cyst, you currently seem to have Infected Bartholin Cyst.
Infected cysts are painful.
All you need now is antibiotic therapy along with infection and drainage(I/D) of the lest sided lesion under local anesthesia.
Inj Ceftriaxone 250 mg IM once plus Azithromycin 1 g PO once should be taken initially under medical supervision to control your symptoms.
The need for I/D is based on the size of the swelling.
Consultation with an expert Gynecologist will help.
Post your further queries if any.
Thank you.

With the lesion that is there is herpes possible?
Brief Answer:
Herpes highly unlikely.
Detailed Answer:
Hi Mam,
The possibility of herpes is extremely rare with current clinical scenario as in your case.
Herpetic lesions rarely produce any lump like lesions.
The lesions of herpes are typically innumerous tender vesicles situated on a tender and erythematous base.
These vesicles later show crusting and occupy diffusely the labia majora and minora.
Hence these can be ruled out in your case quite comfortably.
