What Causes Severe Palpitations After Taking Novocaine?

default
Posted on Tue, 8 Sep 2015
Question: Had 2 teeth pulled yesterday that had become infected. Was given a ton of novocaine (which caused me to shiver badly) and given norco for pain, amoxicillin for infection. Previously taking welbutrin and lisinopril. Woke up today and felt skipping heartbeat sensation (skipped beat followed by forceful beat). I've done some research, believe this is called ectopic heartbeat. Other than this sensation I feel fine, but is it related somehow to my trip to the dentist or the extraction? Should I worry about this? How long before I should worry if it continues?

Brief Answer:
Can be due to overdose of anaesthesia

Detailed Answer:
Hi

Thanks for writing in.

As you told you were given high dose of anaesthesia, hence same can be the reason for such palpitations.I don't think you need to worry for this.
If problem doesn't resolve till tomorrow then consult physician.
Visit your dentist for regular check up.

Hope I answered your query

Wishing you good health
