What Causes Severe Shoulder Pain When Diagnosed With Cervical Stenosis?

Nerve compression seems to be the cause
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thank you for posting the query.
It seems that you have been suffering from cervical stenosis for many years now. Many a times, cervical spondylitis is the underlying cause of stenosis. This causes nerve root compression between the vertebral bodies causing the pain.
I hope, that you are not taking pillow below your head when you sleep. If you are taking pillow, then pain in neck and shoulder region will aggravate.
I suggest you should get a MRI of cervical spine done to see for nerve root compression and associated disc prolapse.
Avoid taking pillow.Instead you can take a rolled cloth / towel beneath your neck when you sleep.
Neck and shoulder exercises, physiotherapy and using cervical soft collar during the day time will help.
Take pain killer tablets only if the pain is severe.Apply local gel and do hot fomentation twice a day.
Get back to me if you have any follow up queries.
Wish you a speedy recovery.
Kind regards...
