What Causes Severe Stabbing Pain In The Kidney Area?

I do have a history of back problems and I don't drink alcohol often.
Looks more like a muscular pain.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thank you for using Healthcaremagic to post your health query.
I read carefully your question and I understand your concern.
From what you are describing it seems more like a muscular pain, more then something related with the kidneys, because if it was related with the kidneys it would not change intensity despite of the movement.
My recommendation is that you take a painkiller like Ibuprofen 400mg every 6 hours, and also use an analgesic cream 3-4 times/day locally. If it is helpful, then we can confirm that it is something muscular, maybe a pulled muscle.
Also, drink plenty of fluids- this is very important.
If worse or not better, I would recommend seeing a local physician, so they can examine your back, do the test to confirm if the pain is coming from the kidneys and even recommend an ultrasound to rule out possible kidney stones. The most common cause of kidney pain is that from the kidney stones, but as I mentioned above it would not be affected by movement.
Hope this is helpful.
Let me know if you need more clarifications.
Regards,
