What Causes Severe Vomiting And Diarrhea In An Infant?
Question: Sir my 9 month old baby has been passing loose stools with mucus like substance since yesterday with a frequency of once in three hours. An hour ago he vomited out what I had fed him. Sir I have been suggested by my friends to give tufpro ampules. Sir can you let me know it's usage? N how to administer it?

It seems that your baby is suffering from infective diarrhea. As the poops are mixed with mucous, so I would recommend you to start him on antibiotics along with other routine treatment of diarrhea.
You should start him on:
- Antibiotics such as O2 or ornof oz (ofloxacin-ornidazole) for 3-5 days.
- keep him well hydrated by oral rehydration therapy especially ORS
- Start a probiotic such as enterogermina or Tufpro. Give one ampoule daily. They have healthy bacteria which helps in early restoration of gut flora and early recovery.
- A Zinc supplement such as ZnD, zinconia or Zn20 will be useful for his early recovery and further immunity to similar episodes in next 2-3 months. You may give him antiemetic such as Ondansetrone for vomiting spells.
