What Causes Shaky Feeling While Suffering From High BP?
Question: My blood pressure went way high this morning. 164/101....with pulse rate of 53....B/P has gone down, but I felt very "shaky" when the B/P was real high.
Brief Answer:
An early EKG and Cat scan brain.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Welcome to HCM.
I am Dr Rakesh Sharma answering your query.
I can understand your concern.
The shaky feeling may not be because of 164/101, bot may be some brain involvement or even stroke is a possibility.A cat scan will be important in diagnosis.
The second possibility may be cardiac insufficiency, for this EKG can be a good diagnostic tool.
It calls for an immediate action.
Please consult your nearest doctor immediately.
Hope I have answered your query.
If any thing else you are welcome.
Good luck.

Is there a time when a trip to the E.R. would become necessarry when there are certain higher than normal readings...such as my 164/101 B.P. At what point does a person decide thet they should go to an ER immediately. A lot of my friends that I talked to said I should have gone to ER...My BP has been running those numbers and sometimes higher. My normal reading should have been 120/70...I am not insured until March/15. when Medicare kicks in. So I have no funds to pay until I actually have Medicare.
Brief Answer:
Present symptom calls for immediate action.
Detailed Answer:
Hello again,
Your present symptom calls for immediate action.
Otherwise if you are on regular medication for High blood pressure, only monthly check up is required, if there is no associated symptom.
So please visit your ER and get yourself treated for present symptom, after that you can fix a routine of monthly or quarterly visit to your doctor.
Minor variation in 120/70 ( +/- 10 to 15 ) is acceptable if no other symptom is there.
Hope I have answered your query.
