What Causes Shaky Vision?

default
Posted on Mon, 7 Apr 2014
Question: My 12 year old son is complaining of shaky vision when he runs, or when he's in dance class. He says he has experienced the symptom in a more minor way for a long time, but that it has been getting progressively worse over last 3 to 4 weeks. It's making it hard for him to do sports or dance.

Brief Answer: Ophthalmology consultation mandatory Detailed Answer: Hi there. Thanks for writing in. I would advise you to visit an ophthalmologist(eye specialist) at the earliest and have your son thoroughly evaluated. Inflammation of the optic nerves can cause shaky vision. Other causes of shaky vision...( you said it is mostly during activities like running, dance etc. )could be due to overexertion, dehydration, low blood sugar levels, low hemoglobin levels(Iron deficiency anaemia), stress/anxiety. Also get his blood pressure checked. Hope my answer was helpful to you. Do get back to me if you have further queries. Regards, Dr. Divya Kuttikrishnan
