What Causes Shallow Breaths And Anxiety?
Question: I have been feeling that I'm taking shallow breaths feel anxious and frequently need to take deep breaths...this particularly happens in the morning and I keep feeling tensed or stressed during this period. This situation has been there for the last 2 months and keeps coming on and off over the last year. I associated this with work stress or anxiety. Just wanted an opinion if there is anything that needs to be done.
Brief Answer:
Secondary to anxiety.
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Welcome to HCM.
I can understand your concerns.
These episodes of shallow breaths appear secondary to anxiety. As you have these episodes mostly when you are stressed, there is no need to worry about any physical illness.
You can go for an ECG to rule out a cardiac cause, just to be sure.
Meditation and relaxation exercises will help you to deal with the stress.
Hope this helps.
Thanks.
