Brief Answer:
Possibly an ear infection;get it further checked by physician...

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I am sorry for the situation your husband is in.

1. You are saying that he is wearing hearing aids and glasses. Both of them are in close contact with his ear cartilage. Such contact will give pain to him.

2. This is also depending on since when he started to wear hearing aids and glasses. If it is recently, then, it is normal to get pain for the first days.

3. However, in case it is since long time ago, I'd advise to observe if there is any changes on his ear cartilage: redness? bump?
Sometimes, infection of the skin of the cartilage can also give such pain.

4. Earing aids are often associated with external ear infection. I advise to schedule an appointment with his physician to check if infection/inflammation is present and treat it adequately.

5. For the moment, I advise to:
- take oral OTC pain killers to ease the pain
- keep good hygiene of his earing aids and ear
- sometimes applying warm pads can help

Wish fast recovery!
