What Causes Sharp, Shooting Pain In Left Leg Radiating Till Toe?

Question: have undiagnosed sharp/shooting pain in left leg ending in area adjacent to big toe. Pain is like a sudden jolt and it happens every few minutes. This condition started last night and is ongoing. Never had it before. I am type 2 diabetic. Any idea what is causing this?

I can understand your concern.
As per the history provided
There are two possibilities for this kind of condition
1.The most common and probable cause might be diabetic neuropathy due to long standing diabetes.the character of pain will be pricking and burning in nature.
the pain will be more during night time and there can be generalized numbness in feet
By undergoing test like vibration perception analysis and nerve conduction study we can come to the diagnosis.
2.The second common thing might be gout due to altered uric acid metabolism
there will be swelling and erythema in the region.Local warmth is also seen in many cases.

The involvement of bone might not be there as the x-ray is normal.
I would like to see your lab reports and i would like to know your duration of diabetes

Weekend clinic doctor ruled out gout. Unfortunately I am unable to upload his full report due to lack of knowhow. Following are the codes for my past or existing conditions if that is helpful: 250.00, 401.4, 427.31, 437.9, 462, 562.11, 547.20, 719.49, 723.4, 331.5, 426.11, 794.31, 333.1, 434.91, 781.0. The new shooting pain started last night and continues on an irregular basis..several times/hr. today. Clinic doctor did DOPPLER STUDIES PERIPHERAL PULSES, XRAY of left foot, and noted HEMOGLOBIN Atc (Q-496) may be appropriate every 3 months.

After careful Decoding of the data provided by you
i am able to get a brief understanding of your medical condition.
in your medical conditions there are few conditions like cerebrao vascular problems and neuropathy related diagnosis.
this kind of problems will be seen in chronic diabetes.
Doppler studies are done to check your blood supply for feet.
I hope your diabetes is in good control as per Hba1c%.
In my opinion i still feel its worth evaluating foe Diabetic neuropathy.
